Becky Foust serves as a role model for all of us aspiring poets. She began writing poetry at the age of 50 after a career as a lawyer and a decade of autism advocacy. Since then she has not only become a familiar face in the Bay Area writing community, but is also active on the national level, where she is Assistant Editor for the online magazine Narrative. She also served as the 2014 Dartmouth Poet in Residence at the Frost Place. Her books include, All That Gorgeous Pitiless Song (2010), winner of the Many Mountains Moving Book Prize, God Seed: Poetry and Art About the Natural World (Tebot Bach, 2010), a collaboration with artist Lorna Stevens and winner of the Forward Book of the Year, and the upcoming Paradise Drive, which won the 2015 Press 53 Award. Any lover of lush, contemporary sonnets should be looking forward to its release. -- Jeanne Wagner, poet of the week. |
