Summer Potlucky
There’s nothing to miss
about Friday night teenage sex;
all button fumbles and boob flubs.
Give me the sanctity of Sunday,
a backyard blue law sin day.
Lawn chairs to straddle, cups
of sweet tea, dripping wet
sloe whiskey burns so hot
the wind stalls, lets me lick
the humidity off you. Suck
your old-fashioned tongue
behind your teeth. Leave
a little privacy on your plate
for cheese on that corn cob,
side of my okra, summer squash.
Succotash me baby.
