O, salted spate!
your foam
brow
churns in
istighfar.
the boats know
of their carrier’s
atonement.
O, crushed pear
in the thicket!
from your
crude goblet
cider pours,
plentiful,
unto ants
who, once sated,
turn in reams
to the qiblah.
O, wolves!
scavenge
tonight,
and this,
your hunger,
is prayer.
your foam
brow
churns in
istighfar.
the boats know
of their carrier’s
atonement.
O, crushed pear
in the thicket!
from your
crude goblet
cider pours,
plentiful,
unto ants
who, once sated,
turn in reams
to the qiblah.
O, wolves!
scavenge
tonight,
and this,
your hunger,
is prayer.
